The Dala Horse originated hundreds of years ago when woodcutters recycled wood scraps into toys for their children who were housebound during the long Swedish winter. The horse, a valuable resource in all seasons, proved to be the most popular design. Today, these beautiful horses continue to be carved and painted by hand. They are made in a wide range of sizes and colors, and no two are identical.
