Karin Anderson, Principal of the Dala Consulting Group, has 25 years’ experience as a leader in the nonprofit arena. Most recently, she was Executive Director of the Maine Women’s Fund, which made more than $1 million in grants and launched an innovative leadership program for young women during her 12-year tenure. Leadership development, strategic program initiatives, and effective communications are hallmarks of Karin’s involvement in programs and projects. She is known for her ability to bring diverse groups together to achieve a common goal, building trust and confidence along the way. Prior to moving to Maine in 1993, Karin was a consultant in the field of international development, working with nonprofits and non-governmental organizations to build their organizational and fundraising capacities. During that time, Karin also organized two international conferences on philanthropy. Karin has served on many boards, advisory groups, and task forces over the years, often in a leadership role. She has been a lifelong advocate of reproductive freedom and currently serves on the Leadership Council of the Real Life. Real Talk. initiative in Portland, Maine, a coalition effort to support and encourage healthy conversation between parents and teens on issues of sexuality. She also serves on the advisory boards of Planned Parenthood of Northern New England, Add Verb Productions Arts and Education, and Mainely Girls. An avid moviegoer, she serves on the film selection committee for the Maine Jewish Film Festival. Karin received the Sarah Orne Jewett Award from the Maine Women’s Fund in 2006 in recognition of her contributions to the women’s movement over the past 30 years. She was recognized as the Maine Jewish Film Festival’s Volunteer of the Year in 2005. Karin lives in Portland, Maine, with her husband, Steve Fisk. Her daughter, Marissa, is a student at the University of Vermont. |
